WEST Mercia Police has donated unclaimed bicycles to a new project in Hereford where young people can work to earn their own bike.

Newton Farm Community Association (NFCA) and Hereford Cycle Hub have set up The Earn-a-Bike scheme with funding from Hereford City Council.

The scheme gives young people the opportunity to learn about cycle repair and maintenance and even earn their own bike, so they are better able to access education, training and employment.

Those interested in taking part in the scheme will need to be referred by the NFCA and is for those on a limited income aged 12 to 18, and already in education or working towards education/training/employment.

The next set of workshops start on October 3 from 11am to 7pm, and will take place on alternating Saturdays.

Spaces are also available for people to work on bikes that they already own. They are able to refer two people per month, so get in touch to secure your place on the waiting list.
