Emergency services were called to Villa Street, which is next to the river, at around 9.40am.

Two members of the public, local resident Martin Green and another man from Hereford Rowing Club, helped keep the man afloat until emergency services arrived.

He was taken to Hereford County Hospital suffering from the effects of the cold.
