THE SEARCH is on once more for 30 brave souls to munch onions quickly in Newent.
The Newent Onion Fayre, which is celebrating its 21st year in 2016 and will take place on Saturday September 10, has announced details of how to get involved with the famous on-stage onion eating competition.
A spokesman said: "There are 20 places available for the men's competition, held in two heats, and 10 places available for the women's competition which is held in a single heat.
"If you feel you have what it takes to become an onion eating champion and would like to enter the competition, come to the right hand side of the main stage during the morning of the Fayre.
"There will be a steward there to take your details and enter you into the competition. It's first come, first served, so don't leave it too late to enter."
