NEWENT Plant Centre is in the mood to celebrate this week, having won a gold medal at the Malvern Autumn Show.
The small retail nursery, off the Hereford Road, near Ledbury, added a touch of humour to impress the judges.
Owner Mark Moir said, "Our stand incorporated a stylish lady wearing a dress of gold and purple Heucheras, topped off with a hat trimmed with Corsican Mint.
"Although it added a little humour to the display it demonstrated that Heucheras are good for Living Green Walls or as ground cover plants."
He added: "We were stunned but immensely pleased to be awarded a RHS gold medal, especially as this was our first gold medal ever at an Autumn Show; the judges were impressed with our idea and implementation."
The display showcased a range of hardy plants with late summer and autumn colour and included large shrubs, herbaceous perennials and evergreens.
