Following up on comments from another correspondent from Lyonshall, I agree entirely that Herefordshire Council’s focus on deterring traffic from the city centre does not take fully into account the city’s role as the centre of the county.
RELATED NEWS:
- Hereford needs two bridges and a bypass
- Drivers who don't want to be here cause much of Hereford's traffic
- There's no mystery to Hereford's traffic issues
Cycling is great and should be encouraged, but we are not going to cycle in from West Herefordshire; we need sensible vehicular access to the city centre otherwise the city’s retail sector will be on its knees with tumbling footfall.
City dwellers will then be able to enjoy peace and quiet and cycle to their heart’s delight, but it won’t attract the other 70 per cent of the county’s population.
