THE Prince of Wales is a good old fashioned watering hole full of fine beer and simple food.

We took time out to chat to Jonathan Kaye about his business:

What is your name?

Jonathan Kaye running the business with my son William and a great team of guys.

What is the name and address of your business?

Prince of Wales, Church Lane, Ledbury

Do you own the business?

We bought the Prince of Wales with Elaine and Russ back in June and have been so pleased with the response we’ve had from visitors and locals.

What do you sell / service provide?

We focus on being a traditional pub. Good simple food and drink. We regularly offer 7 Real Ales, 6 Draught Ciders along side lagers, IPA’s and also sparkling ciders. Food is kept simple such as faggot & mash and fish & chips.

How did you get into the business?

My background is as a Brewer and Cider Maker. I studied Brewing at Heriot-Watt University and then worked in Cider Making having been Cider Maker for both Stella Artois and also Blackthorn Cider. My wife was born in Wellington Heath and is a local girl so owning a traditional pub that serves good beer and cider in Ledbury

What is the most popular thing you sell?

Got to be Ledbury Bitter and Sausage & Mash!

What is the strangest thing you have been asked for at the Prince of Wales?

I guess it has to be cocktails! We’ll give it a go sometimes but really it’s not our thing. We can stretch to a choice of gin and a choice of tonics for a good G’n’T and we have a wide range of other spirits but we’ll leave the Feathers to do the cocktails!

Do you serve food at the pub?

We serve all day, every day. We have started have a curry special menu on a Tuesday and a fish special on a Friday. Both have been well received.

Are children allowed into the pub if accompanied by an adult?

Kids, dogs and muddy boots welcome!

What is Ledbury like as a town to operate in?

We try and source local where possible so we purchase food from The Bakers Dozen, Gurneys, Wallers and Jenkins in the town. Being about to walk down to the Ledbury Hardware store or J-Mart is so useful.

Anything else you would like to add?

I’d like to take the opportunity again to thank all the locals and visitors who have come into the Prince over the last six months. I’d also like to thanks my team of guys without whom we wouldn’t be able to give such a warm welcome. Looking forward to seeing old and new faces in 2024.
