MALVERN Town manager Les Jones wants his side to use the last seven games of the season to seal a place in the West Midlands Football League Premier Division top six.

Town are currently sixth in the table and 10 points clear of Haughmond in seventh but have played four more games and seven more than Black Country Rangers in eighth.

But Malvern are also in a rich vein of form that has seen them lose just once in the league since the turn of the year.

They also reached their second final of the season after winning 2-0 at Littleton in the Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup semi-final second leg on Wednesday to complete a 7-1 aggregate success.

Malvern, who are also in the Worcestershire FA Senior Urn final, host fifth-placed Ellesmere Rangers tomorrow (3pm) in the first of back-to-back matches against the Shropshire side.

Jones said: “We are on a really good run and in two cup finals as well so it’s all looking good.

“We have got Ellesmere tomorrow, then we have a blank Saturday and Ellesmere again so we have got a double-header against them.

“It’s a big game and they are a good side but we are hoping we can cement our position in the top six by getting a result.

“We are playing well and hopefully we can maintain it but it will be a test against Ellesmere.

“We have got to win as many of the seven games as we can but the two with Ellesmere are very important.

“If we can get good results, it will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.”

Malvern will be without Lee Hooper, who is away, while fellow striker Dave Reynolds serves the first of a three-match ban following his red card in the 5-0 win at Shifnal last month.

Jones also confirmed forward Bryan Craven won’t play again this season despite the player’s efforts to return from knee surgery.

The Town boss added: “He tried to make a comeback in training but his knee isn’t good enough.”

Defender Joe Endacott is also out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

Reynolds and teenager Joe Bates scored for Town at Littleton.
