NINETEEN Malvern Joggers’ members tackled the popular Upton Bishop Big Dipper.

The 10-kilometre event was run on quiet country roads and offered a hilly course with sweeping downhill sections.

All 66 runners were rewarded with a medal and a piece of cake at the finish.

Joggers were led home by Jon Newey in a time of 38 minutes 36 seconds and he was first men’s veteran over 40.

He was followed by Trevor Matty (45.16), Ben Toon (45.26) and Megan Judge (46.45), who was second woman overall.

Matthew Lancett managed 47.12 and Julie Mitchell 48.04 for third woman.

Peter Wilson clocked 49.40, Jerry Greer 50.19, Steve Roode 50.33, Mark Cooling 51.15, women’s over 50s victor Julie Caseley 51.57, Alison Priest 52.10, Chris Jolley 54.31, Amanda Duncan 55.15, Glyn Davies 55.24, Mike Anstey 58.44, Lynda Broadway one hour 18 seconds, Sarah Lane 1.00.59 and Vivien Tolley 1.02.44.

The women’s team prize was won by Joggers made up of Judge, Mitchell and Caseley.

Three Ledbury Harriers took on the challenge of the race, which was won by Andrew Stephens in 36.51. The first woman was Laura Lelievre in 45.41.

The first Harrier home was Steve Rooke in 41.28 followed by Sally Rooke in 1.06.55 and Jayne Cresswell in 1.13.16.

Josh Toon, from Malvern Joggers Juniors, won the under eights boys’ race at Upton Bishop. There were also six Joggers at the Cheltenham Half Marathon.

Claudia Steele came back first for the club in 1.42.46 followed by Ian Walwyn (1.45.22), Ewelina Skolimowska (1.50.11), Suzie Lane (1.55.32), Julia Heron (1.59.34) and Dave Brett (2.09.29).

Joggers also took part in a 10-kilometre race at Norton near Worcester.

Stuart Day narrowly missed out on a top-10 place by finishing 11th in 41.09.

Paul Webb ran 47.42 and Adam Hall ran a personal best of 48.39.
