TWO of the three games at Ledbury Cricket Club last weekend were conceded, but there was some cricket played.

As a result of Bredon conceding their game with Ledbury on Saturday, the visitors were awarded the full 20 points to ensure they maintained their spot at the top of Division Eight in the Worcestershire County League.

The 2s' game with Brockhampton was also cancelled after the visitors conceded in that game as well.

So instead, a friendly match was arranged and Ledbury made the trip to Woodmancote 3XI in what turned out to be a thrilling contest.

The home side won the toss and put Ledbury into bat and it was a move that paid off early on as both Ledbury's openers were dismissed by Aryan Kirit as the visitors lost two early wickets.

Tom Bowring responded with some much-needed runs coming in at number three and Richard Orders also stuck around for a while at number five.

But neither could build on solid starts with the bat as Bowring went for 35 and Orders for 21.

Other than that, only Simon Ritchie reached double figures with 14 as Ledbury posted 132/9 from their 40 overs.

Ultimately, it was a very similar story for Woodmancote as their top order was removed without much of a dent on the score but Wayne Gore proved to be the match winner wit his 61 not-out, the highest score of the game.

Wickets tumbled around him but in the end it was his runs that got the home team over the line with just one wicket to spare.
