LEDBURY romped to a 10-wicket victory at Bromyard last weekend as the visitors made it back-to-back victories over their rivals in consecutive weekends.

Having beaten Bromyard 3XI by eight wickets the previous Saturday, Ledbury were able to better that result the second time around to record a convincing win that maintains their place at the top of the Worcestershire County Division Eight table.

Ledbury have won all seven of the matches they have played in 2023 and now lead the way by 41 points at the summit.

Bromyard won the toss and elected to bat and openers Manish Modi and James Godsall made a promising start, reaching 64 without loss before Modi was caught by Vicky Evans off the bowling of Tom Hill.

Hill then took two more wickets for no change to the score to leave Bromyard 64-3 after Ryan Rawle and James Lane came and went without a run.

Luke Borton was clean-bowled by Chris Willemstein for another duck and both Callum Halling-Smith (bowled by Hill) and Tom Taylor (run-out) also failed to get off the mark as the hosts tumbled to 77-7 in what was a terrific bowling display.

But hopes of an early finish were dashed tailenders Mike Beale (24) and Alex Parker (86) put on a monster partnership to help the hosts post a defendable score of 214 all-out inside just 29 overs.

But it was all in vain for Bromyard as Ledbury's Josh Evans racked up 118 runs - a knock including 22 fours and a six - to add to Willemstein's 39 not-out to chase down the score without losing a wicket.

Ledbury stay top of the division with the convincing win and lead second-placed Brockhampton 3XI by 41 points. The first team travel to Worcester Nomads this weekend.

As for the Ledbury 2XI, they slipped to a four-wicket defeat at home to Harvington 2XI.

Having only managed 170 from their knock, the visitors knocked off the total in 39 overs with four wickets to spare.
