LEDBURY had the rain to thank at the weekend as the league leaders came out of their clash with the Worcester Nomads with a draw.

The hosts had been skittled for just 151 in 33 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Opener Josh Evans' 70 saved Ledbury from a terrible start in which they were 10-4 at one point.

But they limped to 151 all-out and Worcester reached 43/1 inside 10 overs before the rain came and saved the day for Ledbury.

The hosts took eight points from the contest, whilst Worcester were awarded 11.

It means Ledbury remain unbeaten this season and stay top of Division Eight in the Worcestershire County League.

Ledbury incurred a serious wobble early on Saturday, losing four wickets for just 10 runs as opener James Waters (0), Tom Bowring (1) and Nick Gibbons were out without adding to the score, leaving them 4/3.

Jack Trattell added just two runs before he too was heading back to the pavilion.

Luckily for Ledbury, opener Josh Evans remained at the crease and he put on a much-needed 84-run partnership with Chris Willemstein to stabilise the innings.

But they both departed to leave Ledbury 99/6 and seemingly heading towards defeat without Worcester even beginning their innings.

Jamie Turner (21) and Tom Hill (18) added some late runs to the score but 151 was always going to be difficult to defend.

The visitors made a good start to the run chase but the rain came and did not stop, meaning the game was abandoned with Nomads 43/1.
