THE first Mercian Fortis Junior Football League’s cup finals day at Malvern Town proved a success.

Oldbury Park Tigers U10s won the Talbot Page-Jones Memorial Shield against WCT Raiders and fellow Worcester side St John’s Colts took the Mercian League Shield Plate over Droitwich Spa Warriors.

The George Goode Memorial Shield went to Leigh and Bransford Badgers Thistle U9s against Nunnery Wood Colts Cobras.

Eckington Juniors and Worcester’s Warndon Villages Lynx shared the Vin Furlong Memorial Cup Plate after drawing.

Worcester Colts U13s claimed the Trophy World Cup with a 3-0 success over city rivals Warndon Villages Pumas at Town’s HDanywhere Community Stadium.

League chairman and secretary George Silverman said: “I would like thank everyone that attended, not only for their support but for the friendly atmosphere throughout the day both on the pitch and in the stands.

“The sporting attitude from the players for all five games was a credit to all those involved and this was mirrored by the coaches and spectators.”
